Hey Sexy,
What’s in Your Lingerie Drawer?
When
you hear the word sexy, how does it make you feel? Does it resonate
with your spirit? Or are you chuckling inside saying who me?
Whatever the choice, your lingerie drawer speaks volumes about you
and how you feel about yourself. Furthermore, lingerie can help you
to create the ultimate fantasy for you or for someone special.
I taped a segment for the Berman
and Berman Show on the Discovery Channel a few years ago.
They asked my advice on helping a woman to create a lingerie
wardrobe for herself and her significant other. The woman, a
traveling nurse from Los Angeles felt she was sexy, but her lingerie
did not speak the same language. This is common for most women. In
the segment, I helped her select everything from bras, intimate
apparel and fantasy lingerie. I would like to do the same for you!
Here are some of the tips shared:
Bra and underwear sets
~ Color and fabrication is the key. Every woman should own at least
two or more lacy or exotic sets of lingerie. Lingerie has so many
details now. You can choose from lace, micro fiber to satin. Even
jewelry details are on lingerie. Men love color, so go beyond black
and try things such as hot pink, bright stripes, and floral. We
assume that when we are not in a relationship with someone that it
does not matter what kind of lingerie we wear. Sexy is a state of
mind, and lingerie builds confidence from the inside out.
Intimate Apparel
~ Choose from long and short gowns to camisole sets and bustier tops
with garters. Women are now able to flaunt their figure with the
type of lingerie that works with their body. If you feel self
conscious in a short low plunge gown, then try a two piece camisole
and tap pant. One of the other factors is comfort. Lingerie
companies are making fabrications with stretch. You can be sexy and
comfortable. Cotton and lace collections are very common now in the
world of lingerie.
Lounge wear and pajamas
~ When we think of pajamas, the word sexy does not seem to fit. This
has changed in the world of lingerie. Now you can choose from
polyester and silk two piece sets in beautiful colors that have tank
tops, draw string pants and matching robes. Again, lace accents make
the garment alluring and feminine. In the past year, I have noticed
men purchasing more of this type of lingerie for their wives or
girlfriends. They understand that mystery is apart
of being sexy.
Axxfactor Lingerie
~ Lingerie stores now have many costuming options for women to
create their ultimate fantasy. This is not only fun for you or
someone special, but can help with building a new confidence about
yourself and your image of being sexy. Yes, you too can be
Cleopatra, a Bond Girl, or a French Maid.
Cleaning your Drawers
~ Twice a year is recommended for cleaning out your lingerie
drawers. Lingerie is just like clothing. You need to stay current
and release what is not working for you. A lingerie drawer full of
options helps a woman to have pride in herself and her body image.
Have fun creating a sexy new you
with lingerie. The next time you look into your lingerie drawer,
imagine all the possibilities underneath it all.
Summer’s here, are you ready…
Underneath It All?
Summer is one of my favorite times
of the year. Whether you’re socializing with friends at the beach,
taking a trip to the wine country, or splurging on a long deserved
vacation to a resort, the question every woman asks herself as the
season changes is what am I going to wear? Summer is when body
conscious or slinky clothing is either our best friend or worst
nightmare. The thought of having to put on a halter top, a dress, or
a skirt raises questions of confidence or paralyzes us in fear no
matter what body type you have been given.
One of the professional models
that I use in my fashion shows truly inspired me recently when she
came to work wearing a halter top. She is a size 16 and fabulous. It
made me question why don’t I try things like this? Women do not give
themselves permission to try something new, or break the mold. This
summer, be daring and step “out of the box”.
How do you get through the season
feeling confident, radiant and ready to strut your Stuff? Well, I
have some secrets to help you take a step in the right direction.
Lingerie and shape wear have some great solutions to help anyone
look their best.
Here are some tips based on the
most popular merchandise that women wear in the summer:
- Get fitted for a bra:
Always a woman’s best friend! Take the time to get properly fitted
for lingerie. There are so many options, and truly one of the best
ways to change your attitude about your body. A bra helps to frame
your figure.
- The halter top:
Fun, sexy and daring halter tops add a little spice to
summer.
The Solution: Most of
the halters today come with shelf bras, but for more uplift, try a
clear strap convertible bra. You have the support you need, and
the strap is transparent. Strapless bras are better than ever. You
can now find them in size ranges from 32A-38DD. Do not let your
size stop you from trying something new.
- The halter dress:
This is confident, playful dressing.
The Solution: Many
challenges may arise when trying to wear this garment. The best
solution for the bra issue is a low back convertible bra. The bra
plunges low in the back and has a convertible strap that can be
placed around the neck giving you a “secure” feeling. Many times
women avoid wearing this dress due to issues such as tummy and
thigh bulges. One of the best ways to solve this problem is to
wear a tummy control garment that comes up to the bra line with
legs. It gives you the appearance that you have on a one piece,
but you are much more comfortable.
- The white pant:
White is one of the hottest trends for summer, a must have!
The Solution: White is
so clean and classy for summer. However, the panty lines and
dimples in the leg area that show through are a bit of a
challenge. The best solution is toeless hosiery and or seamless
underwear in nude. Nude acts as a buffer, and hides
the imperfections. Toeless hosiery can also work well for long and
short skirts.
- Shorts:
Lifestyle clothing for the coast.
The Solution:
Many times women avoid wearing shorts due to feeling that their
thighs are too heavy or “jiggle”. The biker shorts with control
can be a woman’s best friend. It takes care of the problem, and
they are light enough to wear all day. Again, size ranges are
available for everyone.
- Tank Tops:
Great layering piece or wear alone for style and comfort in warm
weather.
The Solution: The
linguini strap bra or strapless is perfect. Nude for white or
lighter colors is the best choice.
- Headlight Control:
Try breast petals. Can wear with or without a bra.
Enjoy the summer with confidence,
boldness and a new attitude about you! It’s all about self
discovery and taking your wardrobe to the next level, underneath it
all.
“Help,
the girls are falling and they won’t lift up!”
Does your bra give you the support you need?
Many times women have come into
the lingerie department repeating the same phrase time and time
again. “I need a lift”. My first question to the client is always,
are you sure you are wearing the right size bra? Eight out of ten
times, the woman is wearing the wrong size bra, just like the
statistics confirm. Although a push up bra does just that – pushes
up and lifts, the client really needs a proper fitting bra that
gives her support, comfort, and most importantly a lift that
flatters her figure and body proportion.
Wearing the wrong size bra is not
only uncomfortable, but many times women suffer from chronic back
pain, slouching shoulders, and annoying bra straps slipping off the
shoulder from an improper fit. As I stated in the inaugural issue of
Coastal Woman, getting fit for a bra is one of the basics of
“looking good and feeling good”. What are some of the signs that
your bra is not fitting correctly? Here are a few indicators:
The bra is riding up in
the back – many times this is the most obvious sign of
improper fit. The bra should not be “lifting and shifting”. The bra
should sit in the middle of the back and remain in that position
throughout the day. Also, too much space in the cup is
also a sign that the bra is incorrect. The cup should hug the body
and give you shape and support.
The bra is too tight -
You can not wait until the day ends and you can take off the harness
that has made you feel miserable. This is a sure sign that your bra
is not fitting correctly. You should always be able to hook your bra
on the second hook comfortably, not the first hook “only”.
You have no separation in
the middle - Many times people believe that they are just
built different and they do not have separation in the bra cups they
just have permanent cleavage. This is not true. Cleavage comes from
a certain type of bra. A bra lifts and separates. This will enhance
your body silhouette, and in most cases re-shapes the body and gives
you a taller appearance or brings out your natural curves.
These are just a few tips to get
you started in the right direction. Getting fit for a bra is a must
if you do not know, or are not sure. Please feel free to contact me
if you have additional questions or need assistance.
The beauty of lingerie is that
there are so many options for people to choose from today. Contour
bras for t-shirts and body conscious clothing, convertible bras for
special occasions, no wire bras for comfort or post surgical needs,
and push up bras that accentuate and give you cleavage. The choice
is yours! Remember to take the time everyday to take care of
yourself underneath it all.
